Competition report - March 2006
Brentwood Trampoline Club successes
31st March 2006
March
was a busy month for Brentwood Trampoline Club with competitions every weekend;
one of which they were hosting.
Hull Grade 1
The first of these competitions was in Hull where two of the clubs grade 1 national competitors were competing in the under-15 boys section. This season has seen the introduction of much tougher form marking requirements and Scott Gregory did well to qualify to the national finals in fourth place, Stephen Page, however, was less fortunate and missed qualification largely due to a weak set routine.
Ipswich Open
The following weekend saw 12 of the clubs members travelling to Ipswich for an Open competition. Most successful on the day were the under-13 grade 3 team of Laura Cornish, Elizabeth Nicholls and Eleanor Clarke who took team gold finishing in 3rd, 4th & 5th places respectively; Laura Studd finishing 3rd in the under-15 grade 2; Mark Hardiman winning the under-17 grade 6 and Natasha Holme taking 3rd place in the grade 1 competition (against much older competition). Others also doing well to gain personal best scores were Altay Erol, Charlotte & Alice Hussey and Lauren Raison.
Southend Grade 1
The grade 1s were back in action the weekend after with Scott and Stephen being joined by new club recruit Natasha Holme, also under-15; thankfully closer to home this competition was in Southend. The tough scoring regime however, continued to bite with none scoring qualifying marks this time; indeed it has become so tough that even the winner of the girls’ under-15 group failed to qualify!
Brentwood grading
The last weekend of the month saw the club pulling out all the stops to host one of the four regional grading competitions held annually for grade 5 - 3 competitors. The new scoring regime came home to roost again however, as out of over 250 entries only 3 gained qualifying scores to higher grades (some of those requalifying having been downgraded last year). Of Brentwood Trampoline Club's 19 entries, 9 achieved individual trophies and another was part of a winning team. These successes were achieved by Rachel & Katie Hurst taking 1st and 2nd places in the over-17 grade 5 with younger sister Sophie securing 3rd in the under-15; Altay Erol securing 3rd in the under-15 grade 3, Bethany Chambers 2nd in the under-13 grade 5, Laura Cornish and Elizabeth Nicholls 2nd and 3rd in the under-13 grade 3 and, with Eleanor Clarke securing team gold again, Kensie Sherlock took 2nd place in the under-9 grade 3 and, finally, coach Nikola Kelly also took 2nd place in the over-17 grade 4. Other members, whilst not receiving trophies, also performed well, in particular those achieving personal best scores and including Chrissie & Eleanor Law, Hannah Mann, Joanne Thomas, Jonathan Owen and Sarah Herbert.
Thanks
After the Brentwood event the club's chairman, Steven Nicholls, thanked all the competitors for making the day memorable and looked forward to welcoming them back in November when the club is holding its popular annual Brentwood Open competition.
