Gloucester Gala Weekend - 6th - 7th February 2010
This first gala competition of the year saw only 3 of our members competing - Charlotte Webb & Hannah McCann in the 45-strong under 15 National C group and Chrissie Law in the 34-strong under 17 National C group. This was a mixed competition with disappointment for Chrissie (on balance just an unlucky day for her compared to her training performance), but delight for Hannah & Charlotte.
The under-15 competition was a story of persistence for both girls with Charlotte also showing consistency. In 1st place after the set round Charlotte was 3 places ahead of Hannah and, in points at least, pulled further away in the 1st voluntary but dropping to 2nd against Hannah's 3rd. At this point both had secured promotion points and qualification for national finals. The 2nd voluntary, though, saw Hannah pull out all the stops to secure 1st place on tie-break with Charlotte, on an overall personal best score, in 2nd place. Their scores were sufficiently high that had they been competing in the FIG B group they would have taken 3rd and 4th places there!
The girls scores and placings are as below:
- Hannah McCann - 23.4 (4th) / 22.6+7.5 (53.5 - 3rd) / 23.7+7.6 (84.8 - 1st)
- Charlotte Webb - 24.0 (1st) / 22.9+7.5 (54.4 - 2nd) / 22.9+7.5 (84.8 - 2nd)
- Chrissie Law - 22.0 (13th) / 21.0+5.2 (48.2 - 26th)
